Important notes

There are 4 types of PINs: ① Digital signature certificate PIN (alphanumeric, 6–16 characters), ② User authentication certificate PIN (4-digit numeric), ③ Resident register PIN (4-digit numeric), ④ Card surface input assistance PIN (4-digit numeric). The number of allowed failed attempts differs: 5 for ①, 3 for ②③④

If you still remember either the digital signature PIN (alphanumeric, 6–16 characters) or the user authentication PIN (4-digit numeric), you can reset the other via the 'JPKI PIN Reset' app (reserve a kiosk session) then complete the reset at a convenience store or post office kiosk terminal. If you've forgotten both, you must go to the municipal office

Same-day processing is available (may take up to several tens of minutes depending on the municipality and how busy it is)

The procedure is free of charge
