My Number Card — New Application

You can apply for a My Number card by smartphone, PC, post, or photo booth. It takes roughly one month from application until your municipality sends the collection notice, and you must collect the card in person at the counter. Once you have the card you can also register it as a health insurance card in Mynaportal.

Documents needed

Notification card or Individual Number Notification (to confirm your 23-digit Application ID)
Residence card (for identity verification)
Driver's license, passport, or health insurance card (for identity verification)
Photo (45mm × 35mm, taken within the last 6 months)
Card Issuance Notice postcard (sent by the municipality) — bring this when picking up your card
🗂️

Steps

1

Find your 23-digit Application ID on your notification card or Individual Number Notification (if lost, you can get a new application form at your municipal office)

2

Apply using one of the following methods: ① Smartphone/PC — use the QR code or Application ID on your notification card to register your photo and apply at the online application site (easiest), ② Mail — attach a photo to the application form and send it, ③ Photo booth — apply directly from a compatible machine

3

It takes roughly one month from application until your municipality sends the card collection notice (a postcard), unless there is a problem with your application. Timing varies by municipality, so check your municipality's own website too

4

Bring the postcard and your ID to the municipal office in person (some municipalities require an appointment)

5

Set your PINs at the counter (alphanumeric 6–16 characters for the digital signature certificate PIN, and a 4-digit numeric PIN for the user authentication certificate, etc.)

6

Receive your card

⚠️

Important notes

People with a period of stay of 3 months or less, or with Temporary Visitor, Diplomat, or Official status, are not mid-to-long-term residents (Immigration Act art. 19-3). No residence record is created for them, so no My Number is assigned and they cannot apply for a card

Card pickup must be done in person (a representative can collect on your behalf only under special circumstances, and the process is more complex)

If you have lost your notification card, you can still get an application form issued at your municipal office

Application is free. If you have lost your notification card and don't have your Application ID, you can get a new application form (with your Application ID printed on it) free of charge at your municipal office

After receiving your card, don't forget to register it as your health insurance card via MynaPortal

The application form enclosed with your My Number notification has your period-of-stay expiry date printed on it, and becomes unusable once that date passes. If about a month is left, renew your period of stay at the regional immigration bureau first, then get a fresh form at your municipal office before applying
