⚠️

Important notes

If moving from within Japan, complete the move-out notification before coming here

When you submit your residence card with a move-in (or change-of-address) notification, that filing counts as the address notification required under the Immigration Act (art. 19-9(3)). You do not need to report separately to the immigration bureau

You may be able to update your National Health Insurance and National Pension address at the same counter

If you hold a My Number card with valid electronic certificates (or the smartphone equivalent) and are moving within Japan, you can file the move-out notification and book your move-in visit through Mynaportal, which normally removes the need to visit your old municipality at all. The move-in notification still has to be done at the counter, with one of the people moving presenting their My Number card
