Important notes

This is not a statutory filing like the government ones, but banks keep your address on file as part of customer verification. Japan Post Bank asks customers to update it promptly after moving and says it may temporarily restrict transactions if you do not

The process varies by institution — check each bank or card company's official website for details

Foreign residents also need to update the bank after renewing a residence card. Japan Post Bank asks you to bring the renewed card and update your period-of-stay details promptly
